How to make idli batter


Ingredients 

  • Idli flour – 1 cup (300 ml volume)
  • Aval – 1 Tablespoon
  •  Onions – 15 thoughts
  •  Green Chillies – 2 Tbs (large)
  •  Cumin – 1 tbsp 
  •  Coriander leaves – 1 
  • bunch Curry leaves – 3 
  • strips Salt – required quantity
  • Recipe 
  • Add it to the mixer and grind it finely.
  • Peel the green chillies and cut them into rounds.
  • Peel and finely chop the curry leaves.
  • Chop the coriander leaves into fine powder.
  • Take idli flour in a bowl, add powdered alava to it, mix well and keep it for ten minutes.
 How to make idli batter

  • It soaks well and thickens the idli batter into a batter.
  • Add chopped spring onions, green chillies, cumin seeds, bunch of coriander leaves and curry leaves to the amma and mix well.
How to make idli batter


  • Knead the dough into a vada shape.
  • If the dough is too thick, sprinkle some water.
  • If the batter is loose, grind some more avala and soak it.
  • Dip your hand in water and take the dough and pat it into a vada. If so, it means that the flour is in the right condition.
  • If the dough is thick, the vada will be difficult.
  • If the dough is loose, it will absorb more oil. So the flour should be kept in proper condition.
  • Pour oil in a pan and let it dry.
  • When the oil heats up and steams on its surface, drop a small portion of the dough into the oil.
  • The batter will sink in and rise immediately with bubbles. This is the right way to dry the oil and make the vadas.
  • Now wet your hand with water and take the required amount of dough and pat it flat or round.
How to make idli batter


  • Knead the dough by hand until the air bubbles are well formed each time you take the dough.
  • By doing this, the vada rises well and becomes soft and tasty.
  • Once the vada is cooked on one side, turn it over and fry it and drain the oil well. Delicious idli dough is ready.
  • Serve it with coconut chutney , kara chutney, mint chutney .
  • This can be done in the evening for children who are leaving school.

Note

Those who prefer can prepare vada by adding rice flour and chickpea flour instead.Those who wish can prepare vada by grinding chili powder and mixing it with flour.
